What each marketplace charges, and what each one forbids

For a spiritual practitioner the fee is the second question. The first is whether the platform allows the work at all, and on most of the big marketplaces it does not. This page puts the published commission and the written policy side by side, sourced to each company's own pages.
Policy first: can you list the work?
A 6.5% fee on a listing you are not permitted to publish is not a better deal than 10% on one you are. Read this column before the money one.

Then the money
Headline commissions are not comparable on their own, because they are not the whole bill on every platform. This table is what you actually pay.

What the headline percentage does not tell you
Etsy's 6.5% is the number everyone quotes, and it is the smallest part of the bill for an established shop. Once a shop has passed $10,000 in any 365-day period it is enrolled in Offsite Ads permanently and cannot leave, so an attributed order carries 6.5% plus 12% — 18.5% before payment processing. That is the fee a practitioner who is actually doing well pays, and it is nearly double Divina's.
The listing fee compounds quietly in the other direction. It is charged when you publish and again every four months when the listing expires and renews, so a catalog of forty offerings costs about $24 a year to keep online before anything sells. A pure commission costs nothing until you are paid.
In fairness: a smaller shop that has never crossed $10,000 can opt out of Offsite Ads, and for a compliant listing that sells reliably, 6.5% plus $0.20 is genuinely less than 10%. If that is your situation and your work is the kind Etsy permits, Etsy is cheaper and you should know that. The threshold is the thing to watch — it is a one-way door, and it arrives exactly when the shop starts working.
Two more differences matter more than any percentage:
- Structuring around a policy has a price. A reading that must carry a tangible good in order to be compliant is a reading redesigned for the platform rather than for the seeker — and for reiki, spellwork, prayer and ritual there is no compliant shape at all.
- Selling from your own site means no commission and no audience. A 10% or a 20% is buying discovery; if a platform sends you no one, it is expensive at any rate.
Where Divina is the wrong answer
If you sell physical goods — candles, herbs, jewellery, kits — Divina lists services only and ships nothing, so Etsy remains the obvious home for that half of your work. If your practice includes baneful, binding or return-to-sender work, Divina will not list it. And if you already have an audience that buys directly from you, your own site keeps 100% and you should keep doing that. There is no exclusivity here, so it was never a choice between them.
Divina takes 10% of completed orders, charges nothing to list, and has no exclusivity of any kind. Practitioners keep selling wherever else they already do.

What is the cheapest place to sell spiritual services online?
It depends on the size of your shop. For a small shop that has never passed $10,000 in a 365-day period, Etsy's 6.5% plus $0.20 a listing is cheaper than Divina's 10% — if the work is the kind Etsy permits, which spellwork, reiki, prayer and ritual are not. Past $10,000, Etsy enrols the shop in Offsite Ads permanently, so an attributed order costs 6.5% plus 12%. Fiverr takes 20% of every sale. Divina takes 10% of completed orders with no listing fee and no ad programme.
Does Etsy charge a listing fee even if nothing sells?
Yes, and more than once. Etsy's published listing fee is $0.20, charged when you publish regardless of whether the item sells, and listings expire after four months and renew at another $0.20. The 6.5% transaction fee is only charged on listings that do sell.
Is Etsy's Offsite Ads fee really mandatory?
Once a shop has made $10,000 or more in any consecutive 365-day period after 20 February 2019, Etsy requires participation in Offsite Ads for the lifetime of the shop, even if sales later fall below that level. Shops that have never crossed the threshold may opt out. An attributed order is charged 15%, or 12% for shops past the threshold, capped at $100 per order.
How much does Fiverr take?
Fiverr's Payment Terms set the seller commission at 20% of every sale, including tips. Buyers pay a separate service fee on top of the listed price.
Can I sell on Divina and Etsy at the same time?
Yes. Divina has no exclusivity of any kind, and practitioners commonly keep a physical-goods shop elsewhere while listing services here. Divina lists services only and ships nothing, so the two rarely overlap.
Why is Divina's commission 10% and not lower?
It covers payment infrastructure, hand review of every practitioner and every listing, the order and proof system that holds a buyer's payment until you deliver, and the marketing that brings seekers in. There is no listing fee, no subscription and no setup cost, so the 10% is only ever charged against money you have actually earned.
