Etsy began enforcing its long-standing ban on metaphysical services in early 2026, removing established spell and ritual shops with little warning. Divina is a marketplace built only for spiritual services, where that work is the product rather than a policy exception. You set your prices and Divina takes 10% of completed orders.
What happened
Etsy wrote its rule against metaphysical services in 2015 and, for roughly a decade, enforced it loosely. In early 2026 that changed. Sellers reported waking up to removed listings and closed shops, including shops with years of history and thousands of reviews. The coverage at the time described it as abrupt, and the sellers' complaint was less about the rule than about the decade of tacit permission that preceded it.
The sharpest version of that grievance: many of these shops had been surfaced by Etsy's own search and promoted through its own advertising. The platform took a cut of that work for years before deciding it did not belong.
The rule was always there
Etsy's Services policy prohibits metaphysical services outright, naming reiki and distance healing, spellcasting, prayers and rituals, along with any item advertising a metaphysical outcome such as attracting wealth, love or employment. Etsy carves out one exception: tarot, psychic and other divination readings are allowed when they include a tangible good, such as photos of the spread, audio or video of the reading, or the text of the reading itself. That is why a tarot reader with a written deliverable often survived the sweep while a spellcaster did not.
It also explains why the common workaround stopped working. Framing a Working as entertainment, or attaching a certificate to make it a tangible good, addresses the letter of a rule whose spirit is that the practice itself is not welcome.
Your options now
- Your own site. Full control and no platform risk, but you carry payments, disputes and every bit of the traffic problem yourself.
- A niche marketplace. Press coverage of the 2026 wave named Witchly as one destination taking displaced sellers. Divina is another, built specifically for services rather than shipped goods.
- Instagram or TikTok plus direct payment. Reach without protection: no escrow, no chargeback cover, and the same policy exposure one enforcement decision away.
How Divina is built differently
Divina lists services only, which inverts the constraint that caught you on Etsy. A Working is not an object with a certificate stapled to it; it is the thing being sold, with intake, a delivery window and proof designed around it.
- A flat 10% commission on completed orders. No listing fees, no monthly subscription, no charge to open a shop.
- You set every price and keep 90% of it.
- Payouts through Stripe, released automatically 72 hours after you deliver proof.
- No exclusivity, so an existing site or social following stays exactly as it is.
- Every practitioner is hand reviewed, which is the point: the roster is the product.
What Divina hosts, and what it does not
Being explicit, because it will save you an application: Divina hosts protective, healing and intention-positive work. Baneful and coercive Workings are not permitted, and neither is anything that overrides another person's consent. If hex and curse work is the core of your practice, Divina is not the right home for it.
Every tradition is welcome. Witchcraft, hoodoo and rootwork, folk practice, spiritualism, energy work, astrology and clergy all have a place. The boundary is drawn around the work, never around the path.
Divina also lists services only, so nothing ships. Candles, crystals, herbs and mailed objects cannot form part of a listing. If shipped goods are a real part of your income, keep that business where it already works.

Why did Etsy close my spell shop in 2026?
Etsy began enforcing a rule it wrote in 2015. Its Services policy prohibits metaphysical services and names reiki and distance healing, spellcasting, prayers and rituals, plus any item advertising a metaphysical outcome. Enforcement had been loose for years, so the rule felt new even though it was not.
Can I appeal an Etsy removal?
Etsy runs its own appeals process, and that is a question for Etsy rather than for Divina. What is worth knowing is that the listing was removed under a standing policy, not a mistake, so an appeal is asking for an exception rather than a correction.

Does Divina allow curse or hex work?
