What Etsy's policy actually says

Etsy's Services policy prohibits metaphysical services, naming reiki and distance healing, spellcasting, prayers and rituals, along with any item advertising a metaphysical outcome such as attracting wealth, love or employment. There is one carve-out: tarot, psychic and other divination readings are allowed when they include a tangible good — photos of the spread, audio or video of the reading, or the text of the reading itself.

So a written tarot reading could stay. A candle working could not. Nor could a listing for a physical object that promised what the object would do — which is how a great many sellers had structured their shops in order to stay inside the rules in the first place.

eBay reached the same conclusion much earlier, banning supernatural goods and services outright in 2012.

Why 2026 felt different

The policy was not new; the enforcement was. Through 2026, sellers reported takedowns and shop closures at a scale they had not seen before, including shops that had operated for years. It was covered as a wave rather than a change of rules, and the practical effect was that a large, established community of practitioners lost its storefront more or less at once.

If you had a reader or a worker you bought from for years and their shop vanished without warning, that is almost certainly what happened, and it was not personal.

Where the work is now

Displaced practitioners went in a few directions: their own websites and Instagram, Ko-fi and similar tip-and-commission tools, private client lists, and marketplaces built for services rather than objects. Divina is the last of those — a marketplace that lists spiritual services only, where a working does not have to be disguised as a candle to be allowed.

• The practitioner's own site or Instagram — best if you already know who you want, worst for discovering anyone new, and payment is on you to sort out.
• General marketplaces — still bound by the same policy, so the work is either absent or described in code.
• Divina — services are the product, prices and delivery windows are stated up front, payment is held until the practitioner delivers proof, and every practitioner is hand reviewed before their shop opens.

What people hired Etsy witches for, and where each one is now

Most of what people bought from Etsy witches fell into a handful of requests. Each has a home on Divina, with one limit that applies to all of them: the practitioner performs the work, and nobody can promise what happens after it.

• Good weather for a wedding or an outdoor day. Fair-weather and no-rain workings are still commissioned the same way, held for your date. They cannot change the forecast, so the guide to them starts with keeping the tent booked.
• A job, a promotion or an interview. Career and money-drawing workings sit together on Divina, and many people pair one with a career reading first, so the working addresses what is actually in the way.
• Love. Self-love, love-drawing and cord-cutting work are listed. Binding, return-my-ex and anything aimed at a named person's will are not, on any shop.
• Protection and cleansing. Warding and house cleansing are among the work most often commissioned here.

The Etsy witch "that actually works"

A great many searches are for this, and the honest answer is the useful one: nobody can guarantee an outcome, and a seller who says otherwise is the one to avoid. What you can judge is the practitioner. Look at their reviews from people who bought the same kind of work, read what they say they will and will not do, check that the price and delivery window are stated before you pay, and notice whether they tell you what proof you will receive.

How buying here differs from buying an object

Nothing is shipped. There is no tracking number, because there is no parcel — the deliverable is the work and the proof of it. Payment is held until the practitioner delivers that proof, and the private order chat means you talk to the person doing the work rather than filling in a note-to-seller field and hoping.

Proof is evidence the work was performed, not evidence that it worked: the written reading itself, a photo of the spread or the altar, a recording, or a description of what was done and when.

Divina lists protective, healing and intention-positive work only. Nothing baneful, nothing coercive, and nothing worked to bend another person's will.
