The Unsent Letter

Give the unsaid a private place to breathe. Private words can still be honest; give the unsaid a page before deciding whether it travels farther.

Some words are true long before they are ready to travel. A letter left in a drawer is not a failure of nerve. It is a place where a thought can finish becoming itself without an audience. This card points at whatever you have been composing in your head on the walk home, in the shower, in the minute before sleep. Writing it down for no one changes its weight. On the page you can see which lines are sharp and which are only tired. The violet pressed between the folds is a reminder that a thing kept privately can still be tended with care.

You might take ten minutes and write the letter you are not going to send: to a person, to a past version of yourself, to the situation itself. Leave it unedited. When you reach the end, fold it and put it somewhere quiet. Deciding what happens next can wait for another day.
