The Open Window

Let fresh air meet the room within. Fresh air changes a room without arguing with what was there, and one small opening can clear the mind.

A room does not have to be emptied to feel different. One window lifted an inch and the air begins to move, the curtain shifts, the pears on the table smell faintly of themselves again. This card points at the small openings already available in your day: a walk to the mailbox, a page written before breakfast, a minute at the back door before you go in again. Clarity here is less a decision than a draft. It arrives when something is left slightly open. You do not have to argue with a stale thought to let it thin out. What was in the room stays in the room. It is only that the air around it becomes easier to breathe.

One way to hold this today is to open something small on purpose: a window, a notebook, a door onto the yard. Stay with it for a few slow breaths and write down the first thing that feels clearer, even if it is only one line. Then close the notebook and let the room keep the air.
