The Listening Stone

Be still enough to hear your own quiet knowing. Some answers arrive through weight, texture, and silence, without needing to become an explanation.

A stone dropped into still water sends out rings, and then the water settles around it, and it is the settling that lets you see. This card points at the knowing that is already in you, underneath the explanations you keep rehearsing. It tends to speak in weight and texture rather than words: a heaviness when you say yes to the wrong thing, an ease in the shoulders when the answer is right. You do not have to translate it into an argument to trust it. Stillness is not the absence of thought. It is a stretch of quiet long enough for the rings to reach the edge and the surface to go clear again.

You might sit outside for a few minutes with a stone, or anything else with some weight, resting in your hand. Let the questions of the day settle without answering them. Notice what your body already knows about one of them, in the shoulders or the chest, and let that noticing be enough for now.
