The Small Beginning

Honor the first step before asking for the road. Beginnings rarely announce their importance, so let one modest action carry today's courage.

A shoot pushing up through cracked clay does not look like much. It is a thread of green in a place that seemed finished. This card points at the modest actions that begin things in an ordinary day: the email opened at last, the box brought down from the closet, the first slow lap around the block. None of them look like courage while they are happening. They look like a foot moving. The road you are asking about is not visible from here, and that is not a failure of the step. It is simply how roads work. They show themselves a little at a time, usually only after you are already walking.

One way to hold this today is to choose the smallest true version of a thing you have been circling, and do only that: one sentence, one call, one shape sketched on paper. When it is done, stop on purpose. Say a small thanks, or a small prayer if that is your way, and let the rest of the road wait.
