The Ink Well

Your inner world is worthy of patient language. Ink waits without deciding the sentence, letting language gather patiently around one feeling.

Ink in the bottle has not committed to anything. It holds every sentence and none of them, the way a night sky holds more stars than a single glance can sort. This card points at the feelings you carry around without naming: the low hum after a phone call, the odd lift on a gray morning, the ache that has no obvious source. They do not have to be solved in order to be described. Language can gather around a feeling slowly, one plain word at a time, until the shape becomes clear. The ink does not mind waiting, and neither does the page.

You might sit with one feeling from today, still unnamed, and write a single sentence about it as plainly as you can. If the sentence is wrong, write another beneath it. Let the words come slowly and stay rough. When you are done, read the sentences back once and notice whether the feeling has a little more shape than it did before.
