The Harbor Light

Let steadiness guide you back to your own shore. A harbor light does not chase the boat; steadiness can remain visible through changing inner weather.

A harbor light stays in one place and does one thing. It does not row out to fetch the boat, and it does not dim because the water is choppy. This card points at the fixed points in your own day that do the same quiet work: the morning cup made the same way, the friend who always picks up, the breath you can return to in the middle of anything. When your mood is moving around, these do not have to move with it. Steadiness is not a matter of feeling calm. It is having something small and reliable to look toward until the feeling passes and the shore comes back into view.

You might sit for two or three minutes and breathe a little more slowly than usual, counting each exhale to four. Then name, silently or aloud, one steady thing in your life that has kept shining without being asked. You might send a brief thank-you in its direction before you go on with the day.
