The Woven Nest

Protection can be made from many small kindnesses. A nest becomes strong when fragile pieces lean together: rest, truth, company, privacy, and breath.

No single twig holds a nest together. Each piece on its own is slight, a bit of grass, a thread, a feather, and a nest is only strong because they lean on one another. This card points at the small things that keep you steady enough to rest: the early night, the friend who asks how you are and waits for the answer, the door you close when you have had enough. None of them are a fortress. Woven together they make a shape that can hold something fragile. The seed in the nest is not defended. It is simply surrounded by enough softness to stay.

You might sit for three slow breaths and, on each exhale, name one small kindness you can weave into today: an earlier bedtime, a text to someone steady, a window opened. Keep the list to three. Small pieces are what a nest is made of.
