The Covered Ember

Rest can protect what is not ready to blaze. An ember under ash is resting, not absent; protect creative heat until it asks for more air.

A fire banked overnight under ash and a shard of clay keeps enough heat to start from in the morning. Covered like that, an ember can hold for hours without any flame at all. This card points at the idea you have not told anyone yet, the draft in the drawer, the plan that is still too new for questions. Keeping it under cover is not hiding. It is letting something small stay warm until it has enough substance to meet the air. Not everything alive requires an audience yet, and the green shoot beside the hearth is a reminder that quiet things grow.

You might spend a few minutes with something you are making that no one has seen: a page, a sketch, a half-formed plan. Add one small thing to it, then put the lid back on. Notice how it feels to keep the warmth for yourself a little longer, without deciding when it has to be shown.
