The Warm Threshold

You may enter this day without proving you belong. A threshold is crossed by presence, not proof, and your unfinished self is allowed to enter.

Shoes left at a door tell a plain story. Someone arrived, was let in, and did not have to earn the light inside. This card points at the way you approach your own days: as a guest who has to justify the visit, or as a person who lives here. Most of what feels like proving is invisible work, and it is tiring in a way that is hard to name. The threshold is warm before you reach it. Belonging is not a test you pass at the door. It is the fact of your foot on the step, unfinished, with the lamp already on.

One way to hold this today is to pause at an actual doorway, your own front door or the entrance to a room you use often, and stand on the threshold for one breath. Say, silently or aloud, a plain sentence: “I am allowed in.” Then step through and leave the proving outside.
