The Neighboring Stars

Closeness can honor distance as well as warmth. Stars share a constellation across great distance; connection can include space and chosen return.

Two stars in the same constellation are unimaginably far apart, and they still make a shape together. Two lit windows on neighboring rooftops do the same thing on a smaller scale. This card points at the connections in your life that hold across distance: the old roommate whose number you still know by heart, the sibling in another time zone, the person you love who needs a quiet week. Closeness is not the same as constant contact. Sometimes the kindest thing is to let space be part of the pattern, trusting the return. The light still reaches. It just takes a little while to arrive.

You might think of one person you feel close to but have not spoken with in a while, and send them a few lines, a card, a sketch, a voice note left while you walk. Nothing that requires a fast reply, and nothing that keeps score of the silence. Let the message be a light left on in the window rather than a knock at the door.
