A spoon is the least dramatic thing in a kitchen. It has no edge and no motor. It does one plain job many times a day, and nobody thanks it. Most of what carries a person looks like this: the bus that comes, the bread in the bin, the hour of quiet after the house goes still. This card points at the ordinary provisions already in reach. They are quiet because they have never had to argue for your attention. When you turn the spoon toward the window, it holds a little of the light. Nothing about the spoon changed. You only looked at it.

One way to hold this today is a minute of stillness before a meal, with your hands resting on the table. Notice what is in front of you and how it got there. Name three plain things that have kept you fed since morning. Then pick up the spoon.
