The Last Candle

Close this chapter gently; its warmth can remain with you. A final candle honors closure without erasure; carry the warmth forward and let the ending be gentle.

When a candle is blown out, the room does not go cold right away. The heat stays in the wax, the air, the hands that were cupped near it. This card points at the endings in your ordinary life: the job that finished, the friendship that changed shape, the season of caretaking that is over. Closing a chapter does not erase it. The book is still on the table; you have simply stopped reading it aloud. What was warm in that time is yours to keep, and gratitude is one of the ways it travels with you. You can put out the flame gently, with thanks, and notice that your hands are still warm.

You might sit with one ending, recent or old, and breathe slowly for a minute with your hands resting together. On each exhale, name something from that chapter you are glad to have had. Then, if it feels right, say a plain goodbye to the chapter itself and let the warmth stay in the room with you.
